With the kind of trailers soaring up all over, 2012 devastatingly fails to give what we had expected from it. Contrasting to our expectations, this film creates a rather funny impact among the viewers; repeating once again all the cliché details of a disaster movie. 2012 has a hell lot of visual thrills but as far as script or storyline or any such cinematic sensiblility is conerned, it’s just a painful disaster.

Here’s what some big names in movie criticism are saying about this movie:
* David Germain: “It’s the end of the world as we know it, and Hollywood feels fine”.
* ROGER EBERT (for Chicago Sun Times) ‘ “2012,” the mother of all disaster movies (and the father, and the extended family) spends half an hour on ominous set-up scenes (scientists warn, strange events occur, prophets rant and of course a family is introduced) and then unleashes two hours of cataclysmic special events hammering the Earth relentlessly’.
* Variety: “On any level other than as sheer visual sensation, “2012” is a joke, for the simple reason that it has no point of view; the film offers no philosophical, metaphysical, intellectual and certainly no religious perspective on the cataclysm, just the physical frenzy of it all. But to ask this would be taking the picture far too seriously.”
* Entertainment weekly: ‘Cusack, with his one-of-the-guys face and his nice way with child actors, does creditable work as an Average American Dad trying to put things right. Of course, Emmerich (and his co-writer, Harald Kloser, who also co-scripted 10,000 BC) is never one for subtlety’.
